This has got to be the coolest thing to come out of PAX this year. Firefall, a game which immediately reminds me of Borderlands-meets-Tribes looks just fucking cool. My 5 word description would be a Free Tribes-Borderlands FPS not-MMO. How does that not excite someone?

Some news articles have been reporting that we are an MMO. We are not. We are first and foremost a competitive team based shooter. There's no dice rolling here, and the team has worked hard to develop the technology and smooth shooter action to make this game possible.

I don't know much about the game itself, since it's only been announced, but there is a 10 minute gameplay video that blew my mind. The first half is about defending some point for a mission and looks like pretty standard FPS fare, with jetpacks. After that you seem to do a fast-travel of sorts to a city hub where you're thrown into a dynamic mission based on the city being attacked. That part is just incredibly cool and amazing. Give it a look after the break.

What I think is most impressive about this short video is just the amount of polish that is shown this early on. And that the game will be completely free to own and play is just mind-boggling. I'd easily pay for a game like this. Oh, and for those that don't know, the lead designer of this project was the lead for Tribes.

You can find out more about this game at the official website where you can also sign up the join the beta.

I can't wait until the end of 2011 to play this game!

Honestly I'm afraid to even play the demo. Does that make me less of a man?

Yet perfectly good games that could be using something like Steamworks will make me dread buying them for using GFWL.

The new boosters are understandable, having ways to make money is a good idea. However, it seems to be a little premature because there is not a lot of depth to the game yet. [url=http://madbohem.c...
